The geographical area to be covered by the AJPP comprises of thirty-six municipalities pertaining to the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Sur, Capiz, Lanao del Norte and Sultan Kudarat.
These targeted provinces are representatives of the Philippine’s three (3) main island groups – two (2) from Luzon, one (1) from the Visayas, and two (2) from Mindanao.
As determined by the Annual Poverty Indicator Survey (APIS) and the Human Development Index (HDI), the five (5) provinces are ranked among the top fifteen (15) poorest provinces of the country.
The municipalities were selected based on the presence of Municipal Trial Courts/Municipal Circuit Trial Courts and Shari’a Courts, with judges and Public Attorneys Office (PAO) lawyers.
Moreover, the selection scheme for the target areas ensures that no two provinces are coming from the same region.
Thirty-six (36) Municipal Trial Courts in the project municipalities had been selected for Component 1. A total of one thousand eighty (1,080) barangays were chosen for Component 2. This was based on poverty ranking, logistical considerations, and the willingness of the Barangay Chairperson to collaborate.
In a capsule, Components 1 and 3 shall be working at the municipal level, Component 2 at the Barangay level and Component 4 at the national level. However, project results and activities are so defined so as to ensure mutual linkages between the components to achieve the overall goal of the AJPP.
