Police National Training Institute

     The Police National Training Institute (PNTI) has played a major role in the training of our country’s policemen. Its long history can be traced from the year 1905, four years after the Americans formally established the Philippine Constabulary for the purpose of enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order.
The present PNTI evolved from the merger of the defunct Philippine Constabulary Training
Command in Camp General Mariano N Castaneda, Silang, Cavite and the Integrated National Police Training Command in Camp General Vicente P. Lim at Calamba City in Laguna. These two training schools were responsible for the training and education of the PC and INP personnel, respectively. Their integration gave birth to one organizational structure known as PC/INP Training Command that conformed with the pressing need for a cohesively organized, better coordinated and better directed service facility for the education and training of members of the PC/INP.
With the passage on December 13, 1990 of Republic Act 6975 creating the Philippine National Police under a reorganized Department of the Interior and Local Government, the PC/INP Training Command was renamed PNP Training Command and became a primary component of the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC). PPSC was created to assume overall responsibility for the training, human resource development and continuing education of all personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. Subsequently, the PNP Training Command was renamed Philippine National Police Training Center to Police Training Center, and later on, Police National Training Institute as it is known today.

      The Police National Training Institute (PNTI), a product of the fusion of the Philippine Constabulary Training Command and the Integrated National Police Training Command, traces its beginning in 1905, four years for years after the Philippine Constabulary (PC) was formally established in the country by the Americans for the purpose of "enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order.

      The PNTI is envisioned to become the primary training ground for the professionally competent, morally upright and tecgnically proficient police officers capable of working in close partnership with a responsive community in the preservation of peace, protection of human rights and maintenance of law and order with the end in view of improving the quality of people's lives.

      To provide continuing training and human resource development programs for the uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police so that they may possess the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary in the exercise of their profession.

 Conduct career and specialized courses on law enforcement and public safety for police non-commissioned officers for their occupational and career advancement.

 Conduct relevant studies/research in supports of its training programs.

 Establish and maintain adequate and appropriate physical training facilities/equipment.

 Conduct periodic evaluation/assessmentof training programsto ensure quality,equity and relevance.

 Exercise command,control and supervision over the different regional training schools nationwide.

 Conduct periodic internal management/audit/performance appraisal of all Regional Training Schools(RTSs) to determine compliance with established policies,rules and regullations.

 Implement other programs, projects and activities necessary to effectively carry out its mission and objectives;and

 Perform such other functions as may be prescribed by the PPSC.

 Provide career and specialized training programs for PNP personnel in order to upgrade their professional knowledge and skills necessary to cope with the challenges in public safety and social defense.

 To produce God-centered, community oriented and environment-friendly law enforcers who in the discharge in their functions, always exhibit the highest possible standard of integrity, competency, courtesy,inpartiality,and sensivity in their behavior.

 To produce quality graduates who shall capable of the most professinal response to crime,disaster and every contingency.
